‘Dice Game’ – the Fugglers game!
Woohoo! I saw this mentioned on Reddit last year with a release date of January 2026. I have been patiently waiting for it to appear in our ‘The Entertainer’. I had almost given up hope until I saw it this week!ย They only had 2 available so I am not sure if they had only ordered in a small amount, or if it has been a popular item.ย
At ยฃ10 it wasn’t cheap, and it is a small box. I won’t call it a board game because there is no board! I was sceptical about whether it would be a waste of money but I had waited so long for this to be available so I wasn’t passing up the opportunity to buy it.ย
Persuading the family to play this was strangely harder than getting them to agree to play cards (see my previous blogย here about the playing cards)ย No one thought it looked worth setting up and expectations were very low.ย
The box came with:
The aim is to have the most buttons at the end of the game. It’s a really simple game to learn, with the option of adding 3 additional rules when you are familiar with the game. The box indicates it is ideal for 3-6 players, aged 8 years and upwards.ย
It was very easy to set up – each player gets 2 purple buttons each and then you roll the dice in turn to try and get 3 Fugglers showing. If you do, everyone must try and grab the Sasquoosh. Whoever gets it also gets the golden button which is the equivalent of 3 purple buttons.ย
Initially, everyone was very apprehensive as it looked like the game might only take 5 minutes. It was nice to have a simple game, but it did seem too simple. I was losing their willingness to indulge me before we even started! However, once we started playing and they saw how easy it was to steal buttons from each other, they realised that it could actually be quite fun.ย
5 of us ended up playing 3 games together. The first round took 33 minutes as we were trying to read the rules at the same time. The second round took 12 minutes. The last round took 24 minutes. Everyone enjoyed all the rounds and I think they would have kept playing if we didn’t run out of time for the evening.ย
For ยฃ10, the size of the box and the lack of board, we were not expecting to be impressed. However, it was a lot of fun and I would recommend it.ย
